Fervens

Curvy, fresh and flexible, Fervens is a high-quality three-column weblog theme with a choice between three layouts.

Fervens users can choose whether they’d like two sidebars on the left, two on the right or one each side of the main content column.

Other features include widget integration and a couple of built-in plugins, including for displaying your Flickr photostream.

Firebug

Dark yet colourful, the Firebug WordPress theme has two widget-ready sidebars, space allocated for ads and social tagging options built into the posts.

It’s also Gravatar ready, works with WordPress’s built-in Gallery feature and offers Photoshop file for replacing the logo in the banner.

Firebug has a stylish, modern layout. The background can make the (small) text a little hard to read, so a flat colour without the texture may be a better option.

Natural Power

Rounded corners mightn’t be as trendy as they were a year or two ago but implemented in the Natural Power WordPress theme with a dark background and crisp, clear design, they still look fresh and impressive.

This two-column, widget-ready theme comes with four different coloured header graphics that can easily be changed in the options panel included with the theme. Also, the header text can easily be changed through the options page as well.

Springloaded

Springloaded is a professionally designed and coded two-column Wordpress theme with beautifully styling and great attention to detail.

In the words of the theme author: “With support for Widgets, Gravatars and a handful of other nifty plugins, SpringLoaded is one sexy little number designed and built by the 449!” Who could put it better than that?

Note the wonderfully designed dates, the great typography, and the nice rounded-corner boxes in the right-hand sidebar.

Abstractia

At first glance, Abstractia may appear to be just another two-column theme with a top navigation and horizontal rules dividing navigation in the right-hand sidebar.

However, the attention to small detail and the beautiful typography sets this template apart from the competition. Notice, for instance, the styling on the dates that accompany each post. Note too the attention to typographic details in the headlines and line spacing.

All in all, this is a very attractive theme that could be easily tweaked to take on an individual appearance for your own blog.

Lemon Twist

The colours are actually more lime than lemon, but nonetheless Lemon Twist is an impressive Wordpress theme that could prove useful for both business and personal sites.

PocketT

PocketT is a simple one-column Wordpress theme with clear navigation across the top and an ‘about’ box built in above the main content of the blog.

The typography is clear and crisp, with just the right amount of emphasis on metadata such as post dates and categories.

There are five different header images available for the theme (all with a green-ish tinge) but it would be simple to add your own if you have some limited Photoshop skills.

Tranquility White

Tranquility White is a minimalist white-and-green theme with a neat Flash animation in its header.

It’s very plain and also easy to customise.

For a darker take on the same theme, try Tranquility.

Pros:

  • Minimalist layout, with emphasis on the content
  • Well set out code makes customisation a breeze
  • Widget support

Cons:

  • May be too plain vanilla for some

Autumn Concept 1.0

A clean, two-column theme that comes in shades of green by default. The colours aren’t my favourite but happily they’re easy to change. You don’t even need to alter any images; simply edit the colours in the CSS via the Wordpress interface.

This is a full-width theme with a large banner image and Widget support.

Pros:

  • Widget support
  • Easy to change color scheme
  • Collapsible layout
  • Choice of banner images - or use your own
  • Drop-down menus
  • Accessible code

Cons:

  • The default colours aren’t real pretty (but they’re easy to change)
  • The text size is quite small and the line length long, limiting readability

Minyx 2.0 Lite

The Minyx 2.0 Lite theme has contemporary stylings and a gorgeous implementation of horizontal page navigation and a wide sidebar that could easily accommodate some advertising if that’s what you’re looking for.

The free Lite version of this theme doesn’t support Widgets or other extras, but there is a pro version for sale ($60) that rolls in Widget, Flickr, del.icio.us and Adsense integration, as well as a control panel for playing with the theme.

Pros:

  • Very modern, stylish Wordpress theme

Cons:

  • At first glance at the author’s site, the theme will look like it’s all in Spanish. But the good news is there’s really very little work to make the theme work in English.
  • The free version lacks support for Widgets etc. which is a shame.
