Sugar Cane is an eye-catching two-column WordPress theme with beautiful typography, great use of images and a distinctive style.
Theme author Able Parris notes that the theme’s strength “is that it makes both long and short posts look great and easy to read”, which is dead right.
Site owners can use the two built-in image classes to have large landscape images span the entire content column and to have portrait images offset alongside the posts.
For those inclined to tweak things a little and make a theme their own, it would be relatively simple to make a few changes to colours and fonts to turn Sugar Cane into your own distinctive web presence.
Sugar Cane is a child theme for the Thematic framework by Ian Stewart. As the author’s page explains: “Child themes allow you to create layouts without touching the source theme’s template files. For this theme to work, you will need to upload both Thematic and Sugar Cane to your theme directory, but only activate Sugar Cane. It’s that easy.”

Who’s Who is a stylish and elegant magazine-style theme for WordPress; it’s spread over three columns, uses a lot of thumbnails and features a blue and grey colour scheme.
The theme makes it easy to create a dynamic news portal using WordPress.
Who’s Who is well organised, is widget-capable, includes theme options pages for easy customisation, creates custom thumbnail images, and comes packaged with the original Photoshop files so you can make the theme your own.

Typebased is a gorgeous free personal blog design theme, with a very clean and elegant style.
For a free theme, this is a seriously professional design with a lot of neat goodies included.
The theme includes: integrated banner ad management; Widgetized sidebar, including some specific custom widgets.
The theme also comes in five different colour schemes: default blue; brown; green; grey; and yellow.
Yummy.

Newspress is a stylish and modern premium Wordpress theme which includes beautifully displayed feature content sections, a built-in video player and integrated ads.
The theme also offers an options screen for changing the default white, grey and orange colour scheme, and for switching the homepage layout.
